How cool does this picture look?
Gizmodo has this to say about the concept (well it’s a reality now)
You can’t deny, it’s pretty metaphysically silly to be playing a board game your parents bought at a yard sale for $2 on a $500+ iPad, in conjunction with two or more $200+ iPhones. Mix in service plans, accessories, the price of the app ($10), and the bribes you’ll have to pay your friends to join in on something so embarrassing, and you’re really pushing the limits of common sense with Scrabble for the iPad. But we will say this: it is pretty cool. We just paired up a couple iPhones (running the free Tile Rack app) and joined in with the iPad over Bluetooth or WiFi (the app makes it unclear as to which particular wireless tech is doing the honors at the moment, but both work) and in moments we were swiping tiles up to the iPad with the best of them.
I just wanna play this game for the cool factor! I always loose at Scrabble too!
What a genius idea for the iPad.
I read this thread, before anyone replied, and thought WOW – genius.
Using iPhone as game controller for ipad?
Anyone know if any ipad games have a feature to use your iphone or ipod touch as game controller for the ipad game over bluetooth? I konw scrabble has a way to see your tiles on an iphone connected via bluetooth, but haven’t heard of any other games as of yet.
I think it would be a really cool feature. You could prop up your ipad on a table and whip out your iphone and start playing.

Off topic, but I love this post from Pocket Lint.
Future Week here on Pocket-lint has brought you information and speculation on what we could be expecting to find in a whole range of gadgety scenarios in 2015. That’s all well and good, but what about the here and now? If your parents popped over to visit, or your neighbours came round for afternoon tea, how would you convince them you were already living in the future? We had a look through the Pocket-lint reviews archive to find some choice products, without costing you the earth.
A quick post whilst I fire up the coffee machine after the Easter break.
This Wallpaper has to be the funniest I have seen for the iPad.

So here it is, iPad day.
After all of the reviews, should you buy one?
I have some really simple suggestions, based on the fact that I think the iPad is great – but not for everyone.
- If you want a laptop/notebook and are considering an iPad, you should probably go back to the notebook, unless, you have another PC to use. The iPad won’t do everything a regular PC will.
- If you want to use the iPad for a specific job (like to read academic text books) you need to check online to see what other users are saying, there may be a better tool out there.
- If you have another regular PC you use, and you want an iPad for mobility, it’s probably going to rock – but check reviews first – you do not want to be disappointed.

I was very temped to change the title of this post to “3 Words to Explain Why Websites are Ditching Flash!” and then just write, money – money; MONEY!
That’s all I have, that’s my whole point. If you think you know all you want to know then stop reading now. If you are interested in my humblest of opinions then read on…
I think we will see more and more websites dropping Adobe Flash in order to support iPad (and then of course the iPhone) because it’s a good way of making money. Here’s why I think that:
- Free Advertising. I know that re-shaping websites isn’t free. I know that changing the code to HTML5 on a massive website is going to cost a mega amount of staff hours but I think it’s worth it for the likes of CBS and TED. Why? Simple, people are blogging about every major content provider that changes their website, people are talking about it and come April 3rd people will be clicking on the site. How much has this cost? A month’s work for the design team – a lot of work – no doubt. Work that was probably going to happen anyway, most websites have a re-shuffle every once in a while and now is as good as anytime. I’m sure hardly any extra resource was thrown at these re-workings, so you could think of this as free advertising for their website’s re-launch, in fact – what a great way to give your flagging website a Kick-Up-The-Ass, re brand it as iPad/iPhone friendly!
- Rich Readers. Although the iPad is great value for money the people who are going to own it on day 1 aren’t, on the whole, the types of people who are looking to enter Mac computing on the cheap. They are the type of people who are looking for the next Apple toy, fan-boys/girls who can spend $500(US)+ without worrying too much about where the next $500 is coming from. These people are the people you want looking at your advertisements if that’s your business, so you are going to make sure the websites you post your ads on are iPad friendly.
3. Flash is not the Future. How often has Steve Jobs been wrong? Okay ok, that’s a bad way to start out. Think about it though, Senor Jobs has not killed flash off by himself, but by publically saying that he thinks it’s bad, most people are following his lead. How many web designers , graphic designers, web developers, geek-boys rock Apple computers? How many of those people are big SJ fans (even if he is their guilty pleasure)? How many coders don’t like flash and can now pitch the (in their mind) clueless VP of communications about some $$$ to change the website (yeah yeah, I know I’m contradicting myself about resources – sue me!). The word has gone out, Flash is dead.
Well that’s my 2p – what do you think?
As you can imagine, there is a lot of news coming out about the iPad.
Here are my favourite stories today!
I mentioned in an earlier post that I thought the iPad would be good for table top games, and it looks like developers agree with me – check this out. The app os a little basic at the moment, I am holding out for Ableton Live for the iPad.
Next up, another of my prophesies seems to be coming true, more iPad music production software is on the way. Read more about it here!
Digital Beat have reported the excellent news that small authors can publish themselves onto Apple’s iBook store quickly, easily and at almost no cost through Smashwords.
Smashwords, a site where writers can publish their own e-books, said today it has signed a distribution deal with Apple to put its books into the iPad iBookstore. Mark Coker, chief executive of Smashwords, said in an email to authors that his company has been working on the deal ever since the iPad was announced. And, yes, this means that unpublished authors can sell their work on the Apple iPad at virtually no cost…
…The company also said it is adding ISBN (International Standard Book Number) support as required by Apple, and it is preparing a large delivery of books to Sony’s e-book store. Apple’s requirement is that all e-book prices end in .99, so you can sell at 99 cents, $1.99 etc. The price must also be less than the print counterpart. The distribution cost to get the book on the iPad is free. Smashwords and Apple divide the remaining 40 percent of the e-book price.
I think this is a great opportunity to get your iBook onto the store as quickly as possible, so get on board now!
